Lumiere at Ontario Place: Free Outdoor Light Art Exhibition Opens February 16

A brand new outdoor light exhibition is coming to Ontario Place. Lumiere: The Art of Light opens on Family Day (February 16) and runs through March 27, 2026, featuring 14 large-scale light-based installations by Ontario artists.

What to Expect

Set in the beautiful Trillium Park on the western tip of Ontario Place, the exhibition explores the theme "Rhythms of Light: Motion, Sound, and Time." Each of the 14 installations uses light as a medium for art, creating immersive experiences that interact with the natural landscape of the park.

The exhibition also includes bonfires along the lakeside trail, creating a warm, social atmosphere for evening visits. It is completely free.

Trillium Park: An Underrated Toronto Gem

Trillium Park itself is worth the visit. Opened in 2017, this 7.5-acre waterfront park features walking trails, rocky beaches, native plantings, and some of the best skyline views in the city. Adding 14 light installations to this setting creates something genuinely special for winter evenings.

Visiting Details

The exhibition runs nightly from dusk (approximately 5:30 PM) and is open until late. The closest transit is the 29 Dufferin bus to Exhibition Place, or a short walk from Exhibition GO station. Free parking is available on-site in the Ontario Place lot.

This is one of the most compelling free events on Toronto's winter calendar. Combined with ILLUMINITE downtown, the city is offering an unprecedented amount of free public art this February.
