Paul McCartney Photography Exhibition Opens at the AGO This February
The Art Gallery of Ontario opens one of its most anticipated exhibitions of 2026 this month: Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-1964: Eyes of the Storm.
About the Exhibition
The exhibition features intimate photographs taken by Paul McCartney himself during the explosive early days of Beatlemania. Using a 35mm camera, McCartney captured candid moments of the band, their fans, and the surreal world they inhabited as they became the biggest act in music history.
These are not professional press photos. They are personal snapshots from inside the phenomenon, shot by one of the four people at its centre. The perspective is unique in music history.
What the AGO Has Planned for 2026
The McCartney exhibition is part of an ambitious 2026 lineup at the AGO that also includes:
- Edna Tacon (February 28 - August 31) — Rarely seen paintings by the late Toronto-based artist
- Monet (coming later in 2026) — A major Impressionist exhibition
- Melissa Auf der Maur (later in 2026) — The musician-turned-photographer's work
AGO Visiting Tips
The AGO is at 317 Dundas Street West, steps from St. Patrick station on Line 1. Wednesday evenings after 6 PM offer free general admission (special exhibitions like McCartney require a separate ticket). The AGO gift shop and FRANK restaurant are destinations in their own right.
